I would argue 'wave zero' of feminism in the second half of the XIX century was the most disastrous. It resulted in the abolishing of coverture, a legal doctrine whereby, upon marriage, a woman's legal rights and obligations are transferred from her father (or in his absence, a legal male guardian like her brother or uncle) and subsumed by those of her husband, therefore creating a single, unified, building block of civilization - family. In some countries, certain aspects of coverture survived even up to 1960s but essentially male position within his family (and male position within society as a whole) was shattered and it paved the way for women to eventually enter the workforce and secure voting rights for themselves.

As you rightfully observed, every subsequent generation of women, empowered by their success, is more radical than the last. Women started pushing and they encountered no push-back, because the barriers keeping the society in order have been eroded by Marxism.
