I would feel much worse if I had a gf/wife. That would mean a human female seeing my face every day. Every time she looks at me I would want to end it. Every second would be humiliating and shameful. I'd feel like one of the disabled special needs kids in grade school when the teachers make all the other students play with them so they wouldn't rot in their wheelchairs alone in the corner. From what I hear this is largely cultural (think bounds of nationality, tribalism, etc). which many Muslims fall under but isn't actually islamic itself, and like someone else said it's usually arranged by families who know each other and are often even distantly related.
So as you'd be a convert,. I wouldn't convert for the chance of an arranged marriage, however I do think you probably stand a much better chance at getting a wife in Islam if you properly converted, went to the mosque etc. I know arranged marriages are definitely not the only way Muslims can get married, but it definitely helps a lot.
