Tbh I almost always eat my food in the main room (except if it's something like pizza or a sandwich) so I don't have dirty plates lying around my bedroom, I think that's disgusting kek. The only things I have in the floor are my shoes, sports bag and sometimes clothes I'm going to wear later or for sleeping, the rest I put them in the closet. When I see pics of r/neckbeardnests with rooms full of used dishes, dirty clothes, snacks, empty bottles/cans and other trash I think that I would never be able to live there. That's not life.

Mine is relatively tidy, or at least as tidy as it can be given how I do almost everything in it. My parents didn't teach me shit about cleanliness but I had to adapt in order to avoid getting kicked out by my landlord. Tidiness actually gives me a little peace of mind so "clean your room" is the one thing I agree with Jordan Peterson about.

Tidy with the exception of my desk which tends to have a bunch of shit laying around, although never trash or food bits. Mess makes me depressed so I clean my apartment regularly. I also have cleaning habits like doing the dishes immediately after cooking the food (I often eat it off the cutting board standing up just to minimize the dirty dish count).
