With the population boom in recent centuries, technological advancement, food production
There are several factors that have contributed to the increase in dysgenics in society.

There are discussions about whether medicine itself is dysgenic by essence
2 wars killing millions of men
Foods that destroy people genotypically and phenotypically

Like there are people who are too ugly to be natural and man i'll tell you the truth beauty traits are usually linked with health traits

What if Quentin Massys' ugly duchess is actually a man?

Not something modern

But in such quantity?
No, it’s just because back in the day people had to paint each other etc, meaning only richfags are portrayed in history as only they could afford having a painting taken of them. It‘s biased now with overpopulation etc.

Well, technically yes. The food, the medicine could all contribute to the genetic quality of the population

well ugly people had to be out of sight back then
there were laws for ugly people in some parts of the world

humanity has never liked ugly people unless they were brilliant even then they are only tolerated

The phenomenon of ugliness is not modern. But the degree of ugliness has increased due to various reasons such as the ones you mentioned. I believe that ugliness is tied to both genotypical and phenotypical traits.

No, there will always be beauty standards in modern times or even a long time ago, where there is a standard of beauty there will be ugly people not fitting into it
