It depends upon what you're hoping for, but in general I think that hope is a negative emotion anyway, and you shouldn't feel bad for not having it. When I was hoping for things like a "normal life", or hoping for relationships, I felt far worse.

Tbh, in my expirence not having hope makes it far easier to feel contentment within the moment. Hope usually distrects you too much from it, and just makes you realize what you're currently lacking. Hence ruining the only reality you have accsess to.

That's exactly it, there are very few good things about wanting something which you'll only have access to at some future date. Eventually I just had to force myself to mostly stop doing it, as I realized that I was just making myself feel bad for no reason at all. The only downside to not having any hope is that it becomes difficult to be productive.
