In February 2024, Kanye West released a song titled "Carnival," in which he compared himself to several controversial figures, including R. Kelly, Bill Cosby, Diddy, and Jesus Christ. In the lyrics, West states: "Now, I’m Ye Kelly... Now I'm Bill Cosby... Now I'm Puff Daddy rich... I'm the new Jesus."
Additionally, in 1999, Nas and Diddy (then known as Puff Daddy) reenacted Jesus's march to his crucifixion in the music video for "Hate Me Now," culminating with both artists being depicted on the cross. After the video's production, Diddy had reservations about being portrayed as Christ and requested the removal of his crucifixion scenes, though the unedited version aired once on MTV.
Furthermore, in a more recent instance, Diddy himself made a statement comparing himself to Jesus by declaring, "I am the light." This declaration was captured in a video where he equated his influence to that of Jesus.
