First, yes. Some whites do vote liberal. These are mostly the under 30 group who are influenced by their left leaning teachers and professors. Secondly, in the parliamentary system the majority of votes doesn't necessarily translate into a win for one party over another. Since major urban centres are largely recent immigrants and those areas have many ridings, a huge number of seats are won by the liberals out of the Toronto and the surrounding area. Not to mention the NDP is constantly backing the liberals, so really NDP voters are also a part of the problem. I'm afraid our political system is much more complicated than the US 'majorty wins' system.
