I knew the price of btc would skyrocket again eventually but I couldn't be bothered to try to sort my coinbase siutation out and now I missed the rocket. This is the second time my laziness fucked me over. First time was when I wanted to buy $100 worth of btc when it was $10, but I didn't feel like dealing with MtGox's purchase process.

It's very volatile and risky, and you should not take advice from anyone. Literally nobody knows what's going to happen in crypto, and the more confident someone is about what they say (whether it's up or down), the surer you can be that they're bullshitting you. People can't even predict the stock market, but they're supposed to be able to predict this chaotic new world?
The above disclaimer aside, I personally think we're yet to see the peak of "crypto" at large (though many of the coins that were hot a few years ago will never recover). I've got some money in it that I'm willing to let sit there for years. I could be wrong, it could go down to zero, but I think there will be several more booms and busts and overall it'll go up still. As silly as crypto is, it's the most practical way for a lot of people to buy contraband and to get their money out of government-run currencies, and those give it value.

If you're feeling particularly lucky, you can try trading currencies; but without inside info/fancy HFT computer, you're gonna lose hard. It's bonefide daytrading after all, so you'd probably be better off trading boomer shit like interest rates, currencies or oil since there's a lot more quality investment sources if you look hard enough, crypto is faaaaaaaaar more speculative (no clue what your ROI is so you have to account for variance==betsizing) and most of the money to be made has probably gone/went.
I also want to add sports betting/politics odds is blatant gambling, but I've made some money by playing the numbers game (ie arbing the shit out of people who know what they're doing). So long as you're confident in whatever you're dealing with + spread your bets. It's good fun but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, particularly if you have poor impulse control/addictive personality.
