Caviar is just sturgeon eggs, you can eat fish eggs from literally any fish and in my opinion they taste delicious but only if they get prepared in a fat emulsion and then used as a sort of spread on toast. They call that icre de pește in my language.

Alternatively you could also fry fish eggs in batter if you pluck them fresh in the membrane they came in after cleaning the fish.

Yes fish eggs are delicious but western style caviar is in my opinion disgusting. Add a lot of oil, onion and salt and you have yourself an eastern European delicacy.

Catfish eggs are good fried, so is carp, pike should definitely not get fried and made into a paste.

Salmon caviar is honestly pretty disgusting, I never did like it, just tastes like water mixed with rotten fish, but in the blandest way possible.

I love Salmon caviar tbh, my grandparents and my aunt made it a few times and extracted it directly out the fish before Christmas. I never tried the real expensive, black caviar, id like to try it too

It is pretty good umami wise, but honestly you can just replace that with MSG. Honestly tastes a lot like salmon eggs but they give whatever you eat it with more deeper flavor.

Its good, salty and fishy. Little pellets filling your mouth with tuna juice once popped.

Every single one of these pellets could be a fish, but they were slowly killed in a salty water.
