Samantha W. Spigel, 17, of Issaquah, Wash., died July 27, 2016, while swimming near a waterfall in a remote area along the North Fork of the Snoqualmie River outside Seattle.
Born on Sept. 4, 1998, Samantha was a gifted student, loyal friend and an active member of the community. She was a determined, exuberant young woman. Her career was already coming into focus as she aspired to earn a law degree to work as an advocate for children. Samantha attended the Running Start program at Bellevue Community College while going into her senior year at Skyline High School. She faithfully volunteered as a children's Sunday school teacher (madricha) at Temple De Hirsch Sinai Bellevue, while also working part time as a Starbucks barista and babysitting for a number of families. She was an athletic sportswoman, playing competitive soccer with Issaquah Arsenal Select, a local club team. And, like her beloved grandmother Bernice Spigel, the longtime director of the Creative Arts Guild, she had wonderful artistic talent as well as being a musician, playing the cello. Samantha's family and friends are heartbroken at her untimely loss.
Samantha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gerald and Bernice B. Spigel of Dalton; Ray Peterson of Vancouver, Wash., and Dorothy L. Mitchell of Mottingham, England.
Samantha is survived by her father and stepmother, Jon and Chris Spigel; mother and stepfather, Joanne and Eric List; brother, Alden Gerald Spigel; stepbrothers, Andrew W. List and Matthew E List, all of Issaquah, Wash.; grandmother and stepgrandfather, Dorothy and Jack Paul of Vancouver, Wash.; stepgrandparents, Stephen and Lorraine List of Edmonds, Wash.; stepgrandparents, Norman and Dennis Ann Noble of Redmond, Wash.; stepgrandfather Thomas H. Mitchell of Mottingham, England; aunt and uncle Kathy and Jiri Sykora of Redmond, Wash.; uncle and aunt, Eric and Amy Peterson of Farger Lake, Wash.; aunt and stepuncle, Shan and Richard Evans of Woodville, Wash.; aunt and stepuncle Amanda and Ricardo Rubio of Lynnwood, Wash.; stepuncle, Malcom P. Mitchell of Mottingham, England; her dear friends, Layla Ovena and Anika Sands and many cousins and other family members and friends who love her so very much.
Several services and gatherings have been held for Samantha. A Celebration of Life was held at Pine Lake Park in Sammamish, Wash., by a group of Samantha's friends, a memorial service was on Sunday, July 31, at Flintof's Funeral Home in Issaquah and a funeral was on Monday, Aug. 1, at Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue, Wash. Samantha was interred at the Hillside Cemetery in Issaquah, Wash., on Aug. 1, 2016.

That other girl literally killed her by not paying attention to help her move away, grabbing her firmly when she was falling and by fucking ignoring her while she was drowning... wtf.
