I know we've had this debate in previous threads but I need to make a final choice.

Here are the pros and cons as I see them

Ryzen 7 7435hs
Pros -
-Better performance than i5
-Seemingly more power effecient than i5

Cons-
-No igpu (people say this will kill battery faster and also unnecessary dgpu usage and heating)
-Expensive - Both are coming with 24 GB ram but I can get the i5 with 1TB hard drive and microsoft office and it'll still cost less than the ryzen with 512GB hard drive and no MS Office

what graphics card comes with each of them?

only cons for your FACE

take the incel core i5

Rtx 4060 mobile for both
i5 12450hx must be enough for that graphics card, why would you need more powerful CPU with more performance cores if both have RTX 4060 if you want to play games for the most part right? + it has integrated graphics inside i5 so it should switch to it while you're not gaming improving battery life time.
According to this reviewer, same graphics card with better CPU like i7-13700HX has very little difference in performance in games.

Some inkwells say that the intel line has failure issues.

But much expensive
what the point then? RTX 4060 is limiting factor. If you had the PC it may make sense to get powerful platform with powerful CPU and as temporary solution use RTX 4060 but later get way better graphics card, with laptop you stuck with RTX 4060 forever.

I mean from what I've seen so far i5 should take care of everything. Though it might be sub-par at cpu intensive games in comparison (whichever those are)

The video I've shown above shows small difference in games between mobile i5 12450HX + RTX 4060 and mobile i7 13700HX + RTX 4060 because graphics card is limiting factor. Only games i can think of where better CPU may show better results even with same GPU are games that utilize L3 cache better or use just one or two cores, for example, in Arma 3 you can use same GPU as let's say GTX 1080 but with i7 6700 you will get way less FPS than with some modern i7 like 14700K and it's not because of core count but because of way superior single core performance and L3 cache, but such games are rare.

your going to have that issue no matter what with gaming laptops given enough time

amd all the way

Only legion models under lenovo have 4070 and all of them are atleast 13th gen i7

What's the benefit of amd besides slightly better performance?

Ryzen would be better, igpu is not needed when you have rtx 4060 and 8 cores are better than 4 cores of i5. Remember that consoles have cpu with 8 cores.

PS you can activate MS Office within 2minutes for free :feelsYall:

I5 is 8 cores too and people say that lack of igpu will be shit for battery life

I5 with laptops is 4 Pcores and 4 Ecores and ecores are much weaker cores that are only used to support your big cores. Disagree about igpu your big gpu can also go idle and use low power mode.

Ryzen also seems to have issues with older single core games

First time hearing that but i wasn't using AMD cpus since athlon x4 645 days so it may be true however since it's single core is as strong as Intel cpus i don't really believe that however it may crash more often.
But if it's perf issue then you can always try using DXVK and boost the performance by forcing game to use multiple cores. :bigbrain: In Black mesa it boosts my framerate from about 40 to over 100 in the same low fps scene :feelsYall: (dx9 vs dxvk)

Yeah. It seems to be a problem with games that require good single core performance. See this on battery and other stuff.

Some people are suggesting undervolting GPU during normal tasks to deal with lower batter life.

But I am still wondering if giving up on 512gb of hard disc space, igpu and even more money on top is worth the increase in cpu performance

laptop intergrade graphics bad and every laptop cpu have igpu(https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/laptop/ryzen/7000-series/amd-ryzen-5-7535hs.html) just do the reasarch on the laptop model that have those CPU to see if there is overheating problem like my dell xps 9560 overheats like crazy and there are online review that glaze it and make sure it have a GPU if battery is draining fast set laptop to power save or play while plug in like I do

You can all ways incrase storage or buy external ssd and hard drive

The ryzen 7435hs chip doesn't have an igpu. Why do you think igpu are bad?

make sure it have a GPU if battery is draining fast set laptop to power save or play while plug in like I do
I have no intention of playing games while on battery. Just everyday office tasks. Gaming only when plugged in.

Make sure it have at least 8gig of vram
I think all rtx 4060 have 8 gb vram.

Yeah. But the cheaper i5 already comes with 1TB storage.:(

Why you really need a laptop? Have to carry it?

I don't have a windows pc at all so I want that first. I prefer one I can carry because I live in a different city and visit my home in a week long stretch every 2-3 months

The ryzen CPU have intergrated graphcis every laptop does I posted a link to amd website that shows the spec

cinebench is not a game it's irrelevant for anyone even me, in all games he showcased showed a much better performance on that ryzen than i5 12th gen

Then pick ryzen no point in using worthless igpu that can only run simplest 2d games and browser

where? Better by how much? 3%?
1733314303355
as much as 12 more frames but he never showcased rtx 4060 with i7 12th gen which is even weaker due only 4 pcores

I read somewhere that undervolting the 4060 might give me the same battery backup for everyday tasks like ms office, youtube, browsing, comparable to an igpu. So it all comes down to price really. Assuming I throw in a 512gb external ssd with the ryzen it's costing me approx 8% more than the i5 for the same specs (besides igpu)

I'm reluctant towards the intel because of dead motherboard issues being reported in the customized lenovo Intel lineup. Don't know what the risk is.
