Most high IQ people (130 and above) lead normal and functional lives, either in academia or STEM. They can and do "go rogue" against society like Ted, but it's mostly voluntary and self-sacrificing, which should be distinguished from midwit and low IQ autistic incels who are always outcasts and failures no matter what they do.
