Freedom is the abilty to do life altering things. It is not the idea of saying: "You can do whatever you want!" and then placing a million limitations on someone narrowing down the "whatever you want" to chosing how to rot inside their room. People cope with thinking that they so many options but when all options are bad and similarly shitty there is no point in having multiple options anyways. The end results are nearly identical.
