The subject matter of the majority of 80s songs is about love and romance and you listen to it despite knowing you'll most likely never experience the type of love that's being sung about. Other than that the music might give you some sense of comfort because of it's nostalgic qualities, it might bring you back to your childhood and even if you've never consciously experienced the 80s it might fill you with some type of anemoia.
(All of this could be applied to vaporwave aswell)

ER sure would agree.

ER sure would agree.
I feel like if I knew him personally we could have been good friends, his music taste and general mindset is very similar to mine except I don't consider myself to be a narcissist which he clearly was.

Im listening to a lot of 60s songs lately, makes me nostalgic for a time i never kniew

I just fell in love with them because of GTA Vice City.
But there is something about those songs that it's just magical, they have soul.

Agreed, I used to play GTAVC consecutively for hours as a child so it's possible that contributed to my love for 80s music aswell

Music from 80s is a little cheesy but nevertheless very good.
The lyrical themes of the 80s bands were often about struggle, fighting, love ( lust ) etc.
Glam-metal was thriving in 80s while with the beginning of the 90s new styles like grunge and alternative came to power.
I still don't understand the appeal of grunge. Never liked Nirvana.

I listen to 90s

I can't listen to 80s songs without wanting to punch a wall out of frustration for my life-long loneliness, so no.

I can only to Black Flag and Bad Brains and whatever. Technically 80s songs, cuz they are from the 80s, but they are not 80s songs.

Ah yes I remember, I never realized what the actual song title and artist was

I get why people would enjoy grunge but it's not really my thing either
I listen to 90s
Same here, anything that makes me nostalgic tbh

This is one of my favorite vaporwave mixes on youtube and even though it's not actual 80s music it gives me a similar if not better feel of nostalgia/anemoia. I don't really like vocals in music most of the time anyway.
