It's more about iPhone being normie-specific. iPhones cost more and are worse than the competition. If you were buying simply for the quality of the product, you'd most likely buy an Android. You'd only buy an iPhone as some kind of normie status-signaling thing in most cases.
Also, I'd like to add, you'd also buy an iPhone if you're a normie and you need to fit in with what your social group has.

iPhones have advantages too. They get OS and security updates on day one for 4 years. You can sell a used iPhone for a decent amount of money too. And if you use a Mac, you'll get a better integrated ecosystem.
Performance and cameras are generally on par with Android flagships. Lower end Androids are amazing value but if you look at flagships then Android and iOS are pretty close.
Linuxcel reporting in. I'm also learning Vim and i use GNU Make to build Java stuff because gradle is for normies lol. I also use f-droid and preffer free software over bloated proprietary crap. I also avoid using IDEs as much as possible.
Im also using a phone with pretty much most google crap removed and with no sim card on so Scholomo doesn't track me via SS7

I'm also a newbie linuxcel, installed mint a month ago, and couldn't even get any problems so far, to learn how to fix. How tf am I supposed to learn Linux, if it's just working with no issues. Also, due to certain circumstances, I crtmaxxed and currently watching movies on an old panasonic gaoo. Might hook up a PS2 later tbh tbh

Linux just werks these days. Using something like Mint or Ubuntu isn't really any harder than Windows. Just different. Install Gentoo if you really want a learning experience.

Tbh I wanted to try arch. Was thinking about Gentoo as well, but it seems like a too steep learning curve. Though, the performance boost (probably insignificant) is what can make me do it. Is there any profit for a potato PC and can I manage it as a beginner?

You could manage it if you're willing to read the wiki and things a lot. Performance gain is not worth it though. I'd only install Gentoo if you are interested specifically in learning about it. If you just want an easy performance boost install Lubuntu or another easy lightweight distro.

When's the last time you tried? Distros like Ubuntu are extremely easy to install and use these days.
I think you're implying that incels usually use unconventional and/or unpopular tech, I don't see this as a rule but I see your point eg. most people want an iPhone because it's trendy and gives status but will settle for an android because it's cheaper .

Agree. The only thing with mint which made me wonder on what is wrong is when I couldn't switch keyboard layouts with a shortcut. Just had to set the shortcut for it, and you can also choose whatever you like. It's even easier than windows install, I didn't even had to install no drivers, the system was ready out of the box
