Zagreb police have detained and charged a 34-year-old man who was walking along Draškovićeva Street and attacked passersby aged 20, 30 and 65 without cause. He is suspected of committing the crimes of grievous bodily harm, damage to property and violent behavior.
The incident took place on Wednesday at around 6:45 p.m., when he attacked passersby while walking along Draškovićeva Street, waving his arms and ramming into them. At one point, he approached the 65-year-old woman, intending to seriously injure her, and hit her in the face with his elbow, after which the passerby fell to the ground. Her glasses were also damaged in the fall, so the police report that in addition to serious injuries, he also committed the crime of damaging property.
After that, on the same street, he approached a 30-year-old woman who was standing in front of an ATM, grabbed her by the body for no reason and physically hit her head against the ATM. The passerby managed to escape at one point, but the 34-year-old tried to physically attack her again. She managed to escape, entered the accommodation facility and called the police.
In front of the tram stop at the accommodation facility, the male suspect walked towards the 20-year-old woman and without any reason hit her with his body, that is, physically attacked her, causing the girl to fall to the ground and sustain minor injuries.
The suspect was detained at the scene by two citizens, a 56-year-old and a 41-year-old, until the police arrived, who arrested him and took him to official premises for a criminal investigation.
The injured 65-year-old woman was provided with medical assistance at the Traumatology Clinic in Zagreb. By the described behavior, that is, violence in a public place, the suspect put the victims of the attack, aged 20 and 30, in a humiliating position and slightly injured them, the Zagreb police note.
After the criminal investigation was completed, he was handed over to the detention supervisor within the legal deadline, while the criminal report was submitted to the Municipal Criminal State Attorney's Office in Zagreb.
