Yeah, Portugal has never really been “wealthy,” it was stereotyped throughout the 20th century as being a “poor” country. How a country (Portugal) could have multiple colonies like: Mozambique, Angola, Brazil, and others - and still be poor has always astounded me. I always think, “How did the Portuguese spend all that money from the gold they pillaged from the backwards Indians in the New World?”

People always say, “Yeah, things were bad in Portugal during the 20th century.” Excuse me - Portugal is a small country on the edge of the Iberian Peninsula that used to have gigantic colonies all over the world, including Brazil - How in the fuck was Portugal “poor”, some Portuguese aristocrat stole a lot of gold and money!
