What a waste of space it will be. So far, all the scientific observations of the universe point out to a rare Earth hypothesis. According to that theory, the events that shaped the formation of Earth as well as of the whole solar system are so rare that they're unlikely to have happened in other regions of the universe. If that's the case, it's probable that we're the only civilization in existence, at least for now. Imagine if humans turn out to be the best thing that nature could come up with. It'd be so disappointing, but I think that's the case.

I agree, I mean sure there's still apparently a lot of universe we can't see and probably never will, but it looks like a planet with life on it is extremely rare. That's why you can't idealize nature life or nature, I recognize it as nothing special.

What if there was a civilisation some millions of years ago that time forgot, certainly not a global, industrialised one, but perhaps an iron age one with intelligent reptiles.

Their domiciles and bodies would be destroyed with time and geology, and iron rusts, we only have a fraction of remains from a fraction of species that ever lived.
