Damn, turns out looks matter and lookism stings, doesn't it soys:smonk::feelsjuice:.

Of course they are trying to make it a gender thing:feelshaha:. Can't accept that looks alone are important regardless of gender, race, or whatever no matter what, it has to be tied to gender, because what's more feminist and progressive than holding onto the belief that looks are only important to women, which is something that had been discredited for decades:feelsUgh:.

You want to know why seeing a better-looking version of yourself is more brutal than watching Funkytown Mexico Director's Cut 4k Ultra-HD version? It's because it hits basically the same things areas psychologically. Physical assaults leave you with a mental trauma because they shatter your assumptions of yourself being an invulnerable being living in a good and just world...

Watching a filtered version of yourself isn't quite the same, but it still hits. You know for a fact how you treat better and worse looking people, and the moment you have the juxtaposition of your normal and better lookng self, it starts comparing them. The moment your brain does so, when you realize how you differently you would treat those two people, it hits you just how differently you would've been treated if only your appearance was more like the filter version of yourself. You start thinking back to your past interactions, now having something to compare the treatment you've received as your normal self, with you now able to imagine how differently you would've been treated in those situations if you were this better looking version of yourself. It doesn't even have to be conscious, your subconscious is simply more than capable of comparing your face to the better one and, knowing how you yourself would treat those two people differently, realize how strangers and others likely would do that as well, and that directly hits people's belief in a just world.

How did they even manage to make it a gender issue? Like women are the selectors right? Who is rejecting their looks again?

Yeah suddenly they care when they make it about women.
