My mom told me so, but going to the hairdresser is definitely one of the things I hate the most. You are confronted with your reflection for 15-20 minutes, in the worst possible lighting, with no way out except trying to avoid your own gaze (which is quite easier said than done). Apart from the fact that usually some young foid fumbles at your head for the whole time (which already makes me nervous enough especially if she's good looking).
And then, when you are finally done and the hairdresser asks you something like "Are you satisfied" or "Does it look good to you?", you want to say: "No, but thanks for giving your best effort".
That's why I let it cut quite short every time (unfortunately I don't have the head shape to carry it really short, otherwise I'd probably do it myself) and don't make a new appointment until it's intolerable long again (which as a positive side effect also saves you a few bucks).
