AI is overhyped and shitty unless you're using it as a productivity shortcut (e.g. 'jeets using to help xem program Microkike Word). All the online ones have draconian filters (except for a couple of paid options, but those simply use open models), and you need a powerful rig to run local LLMs that aren't too shitty, plus you occasionally have to troubleshoot, find good prompts, think of what to say, etc. Honestly, a big drawback of AI is also that it can only respond when you respond, so without you stepping in, it can't say anything, which helps make it more obvious that it is, well, AI. It was great to see the initial wave of progress, but now that it's cooling down so heavily, things are just getting uninteresting once more
