But at what point do they realise their child may not achieve these dreams? ... When they get diagnosed with autism, Asperger or schizophrenia.
A diagnosis is a death sentence. It means the afflicted child will never have the same quality of life as "normal functioning" children.
Minassian is one such case. It wasn't toxic misogyny or whatever the left loves to list as the motive of his van rampage. I firmly believe it went along the following lines: Minassian, being the outcast he is, realised life offered nothing for him, and decided to go out with a bang, as evidenced his attempt at suicide by cop. In other words, no amount of fake friendship (his parents are the only people who truly loved him, he had no genuine friends - everyone either bullied him or tried to be friendly towards him, though their friendship was false and motivated only by sympathy) could keep him from not veering toward the path of violence. It was a matter of Minassian losing faith in life, and deciding to send a fuck you message to society.
He graduated from a special needs course, then went onto study computer science, with EXTENSIVE SUPPORT FROM TEACHERS AND OTHER MODIFICATIONS TO THE PROGRAM. He got his placement at the software company because of disability rights policy. He wasn't offered employment there because he was DIFFERENT. While his parents supported him and loved him, they knew he would never lead a normal life - he knew this too. And in this age of social media, where we see real time updates of every other normshit in the world, we cannot stop comparing ourselves to others, who we see as ahead of us in life. Feelings of inadequacy or inability to achieve what others have will always lead to violence.
Now his parents will never see him achieve another thing - he won't ever get a job, or even get a girlfriend - if that was ever possible. I hope he ropes and ends them the pain he is causing them, and puts an end to the media circus concerning incels.
