Yeah, usually the people who hate group X the most are most likely to be affiliated with it in some way, i.e. part of the group or its victims (or very close person thereof). Because for other persons, there is no big reason to think about them a lot because you are not in group X and you have not been harmed by them, so who cares, you might have "rational" investment if you look into statistics but not any emotional one.
But for example people who are pedophiles and hate that they are pedophiles might also publicly hate on them because they hate themselves, if that makes sense? Similar like many anti-gay people are closeted homosexuals themselves who hate that they have to repress part of their personality. Of course they might also have been abused as a child, but then they often tell that.
Here, by claiming that anime-fans are pedophiles they might also intentionally try to confuse people about actual traits of pedophiles.
