Nowadays homosexuality is accepted by most people in the western world. Now it’s completely accepted. Homophobes are now a small, hated and powerless minority. 10 years ago if you were homophobic you were just viewed as a bit of a jerk but now if you are, people will think you’re an evil monster who should be beaten up and ostracized or even doxxed. People always say “what two consenting adults do is none of your business and you shouldn’t judge them because it doesn’t affect you and it doesn’t cause any harm”, yet the same logic could be applied to incest (except for parent-offspring incest).
For example, if a brother and sister have a sexual relationship, aren’t these people hypocrites for judging them? Sure people can say “but muh birth defects” but this argument fails. First of all, two brothers having sex or two sisters having sex won’t produce kids. Also, if a brother and sister have sex, what if the brother has a vasectomy? Sure, vasectomies don’t make the odds of pregnancy become zero but they make it almost zero, and those odds can even get reduced even more if they use condoms. Which means there will be extremely low odds of a pregnancy and if it happens she can get an abortion anyway and she can still use birth control pills. Also, what if they don’t have intercourse and just stick to oral sex? Gay and lesbian couples don’t do intercourse and they’re satisfied with it. Also, the pull out method is done correctly prevents pregnancy 96% of the time. Nonetheless, 18-28% of couples who do this method will get pregnancy within 1 year because many might not know how to do the pull out method correctly. Pulling out however is difficult and Precum can occur. Also some can just choose to ejaculate on the face from oral sex after doing intercourse so pregnancy doesn’t occur. And precum rarely causes pregnancy.
many will say “but they’re supposed to be siblings not intimate partners” but the relations between siblings isn’t as important as the relations between parent and offspring because the sibling just happens to be raised by the same parent, kinda like how classmates are taught by the same teacher. Just because they’re raised by the same parent doesn’t mean their relations as siblings are anything significant or important, unlike a parent offspring relation which involves nurturing.
also, many will say that siblings will be traumatized just from consensual incest, but I think society’s universal strong disapproval and stigma against incest is what really causes the trauma not the nature of incest itself. In ancient Egyptian royal families sometimes they had sex with siblings but there are No records of them being traumatized by it back then, and people still knew what trauma was back in ancient times. Also, as for power imbalance, plenty of siblings are only a few years apart, sometimes 2 or 3 years, and if they are both now consenting adults, it doesn’t matter.
in New Jersey and Rhode Island, incest is legal. In some countries it’s legal including India, Brazil, France, Australia, Russia, China, Japan, North and South Korea, Philippines, most of Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, etc. In most American states it’s illegal and results in prison, with a life sentence in a couple of states.
some people on reddit have defended incest between two siblings (Not IT they are anti-incest) and I won’t be surprised if incest is legalized in a few decades along with incest marriage and incest couples adopting children.
Saying “but incest is universally frowned on and always has been is dumb” because homosexuality used to be extremely frowned on. This is an appeal to common belief or appeal to popularity logical fallacy. And don’t say “you bigot you compared homosexuality to incest are you trying to offend gay people?” because that’s just appeal to emotion and one thing both have in common is that they’re too consenting adults. Yeah I know truth hurts.
Not saying I am pro incest. But im saying you can’t accept homosexuality because it’s two consenting adults and none of your business but then judge incest couples, it’s hypocrisy. Either both homosexuality and incest are bad or both are good. You can’t accept one and disapprove of the other.
