For the most part, humans are not meant to be unattractive, If your craniofacial complex develops properly, it is most likely you will turn out at least average-looking. As there is an outbreak of improper craniofacial development due to modern and improper habits, there is an outbreak of unattractive and unharmonious faces, this is also why on average, both men and women in the 20th century before the 1980s, where significantly more attractive in comparison to the average threshold of attractiveness in this day and age.
Modern human diets and lifestyles differ greatly from those of most of our evolutionary history. Since the Neolithic Revolution (~12,000 years ago), human jaws and oral cavities have been shrinking, as shown by bone remains from that period. Researchers link jaw size to lifestyle, with larger jaws found in hunter-gatherer societies and smaller ones in farming cultures. Bones from agricultural societies also show dental malocclusions (crooked teeth). In recent centuries, softer, processed foods have led to smaller jaws, crowded teeth, reduced wisdom tooth space, and related health issues.
Changes in diet, lifestyle, and breathing patterns have led to maladaptive phenotypicexpression in terms of morphological craniofacial development that starts in childhood but persists throughout the lifespan.
