I've noticed this as well. Most office workers still get paid like its the 50s (adjusted for inflation) due to having an extreme abundance of both male and female workers, meanwhile male dominated jobs like construction have evidently shifted with the west's standard of living.
Yes, manual labour does pay well in west, mainly US, and has a better job security than corporate which is just a layoff hell.
