Can someone who has completed only a U.S. high school education get a decent job?
Why not? After all, it's supposed to be 10- 12 years of your life—training for adulthood that never really arrives. Then they tell you to go to college.
The only people making good money right after high school are those in trade jobs, farmhands, small business owners, crypto investors, or some kind of online influencer gig. None of these are taught in school. Instead, you spend years learning about advanced math, history, geography, and chemistry—subjects that 85% of people will never use in their daily lives. And, of course, there's the outdated and awkward approach to sex education.
On top of that, you deal with bullying, pointless competition, and unnecessary drama. You're pressured to buy into memberships for sports and fitness, which most people quit after high school anyway.
To me, school feels like a free trial for life—where the average person wastes time doing meaningless tasks, only to end up as another cog in the system for the rest of their life.

when most people talk fondly about their school days it's not about the education at all
