LifeFuel I will change my last name

Next week I’ll be going to the city office to request a new ID card, then heading to court to change my last name. (I already have lawyer paperwork to give the city office the last name I want). It’s not just a legal formality in my case, it’s a final rejection of a legacy I never asked for.
My last name comes from a man who contributed nothing to my life. A piece of shit heroin addict who was absent by choice, not circumstance. He never raised me, never supported me, and never once acted like a father.
Changing my name won’t undo the past, but it will strip away one last piece of it. It’s the quiet, personal kind of revenge and the kind that doesn’t ask for anyone’s permission.
And that idiot secretly doesn't like it that I will change my surname, he said so prior to 2020 and threatened to cut ties with me if I did so (which is actually exactly what I want)

I don't live in the west.
Here it's alot more complicated since my educational documents and everything else have my previous name on it and if I do get to change it then maybe it'd cause problems for me in future.

It's not cheap honestly. Changing your last name here isn’t just a quick form at city hall cause in my case I have to apply through the government, and it can take months. The standard fee is around €800 just for the application itself. If you want to change it for multiple family members at once, it’s even more.
And if you want to improve your chances (especially if it’s for personal or emotional reasons), some people get help from a lawyer or a psychologist for extra documentation, which can cost more.
