I think people severely underestimate how much impact a woman's height has on the end height of the male.
Short girls literally ruin the potential of their sons, which happened in the case of my former classmate.
His dad was around 5'10, his mom was 5'4.
He ended up 5'9.
I went to a height calculator which uses a forumula to accurately predict the end height potential.
I kept his dad's height the same: 5'10, but changed his mom's height to 5'7 and the results were flabbergasting.
His end height with a taller mom would have been around 5'10 -6'0 tall.
Combine that with the right environmental upbringing, maximal amount of sleep, nutrition, sports, low stress and he could have reached 6ft easily.
All my taller classmates had 1 thing in common:
A relatively tall / above average mom and their dad was not a 'giant'.
Or, in rare cases, an extremely tall dad (6'3+) that compensates for the midget genetics of the sons mom.
But speaking in general terms, taller women are crucial to the height potential of sons
