It's a vague term, but I think it's "competency".

A woman wants a man who appears competent at life. Be that with money, confidence, physical strength, dominant behaviour, etc.

And ultimately that's because they're hardwired to want a protector and provider, so that they can safely raise children.

I think that to appear competent a man can excel at one or more of the qualities I wrote above, and of course they're only examples.

This is only a theory I came up with while walking home so go easy on me guys!

I really don't think that women care as much about simply "good looks" as you think they do. MEN care about that. Men look at a girl and really value the physical appearance of their partner. But women... you see the guys that many women go for! Many women would happily choose the more successful guy even if he was less attractive and older, over a younger guy who looks better but has less.

This thing about looks being the #1 priority is a male trait, not a female one, predominantly.
