Probably due to Asian culture, specifically east Asian. For Japan, the working culture was built from what was left of Japan after WW2 trying to rebuild themselves, they pushed forward a culture which highly praised staying within the norms and wageslaving as it was the only way Japan could really rebuild itself; which led to the culture evolving to what it is today, with it being taught to their children.
In China/Korea, the political party in charge is cucked, brainwashing the population into firmly idealising work and, unlike the west, companies would be highly praised by those political parties for wageslaving their employees and giving their due to their funding, and rewarding employees who overworked themselves with promotions and pay raises, unlike the west which is more leniant; this manifested into their culture, with people teaching their children to work themselves to death as it was the only way to succeed without connections. It's far far more fucked than any western working environment.
There is also regular cultural reasons, such as careers being seen as the foundation of a family over there due to how poor/the amount of population there is; and the eastern hemisphere being extremely competitive because of that, if you don't work hard for your family and take every opportunity, you will be overtaken by others who constantly do and ultimately be left in the dust.
