I recommend a rabbit, they’re just as cute as cats but less work, underrated pets like a Belgian Hare, English Spot, or American Chinchilla for example, underrated but the emotional support and cuteness and fluffiness would do the job just as good if your mom has a problem with cats. I love cats too btw but cats and rabbits both have their own cute and fluffy charms in them
My parents actually have/had some and i also used to have some but they arent really less work. Its more work cleaning their shit + you cant let them roam around freely like cats and you cant just take them onto your lap and they are generally less playful than cats
Yes they do poop a lot and piss too, you can let them roam around on a leash. They are affectionate and they do like to cuddle though that’s what’s cool about rabbits
Cant confirm that from my experience. They didnt mind when i petted them, but they also werent super excited about it or wanted it actively

Don’t get one. They have no souls. They are emotionless and have no empathy. I had one good cat once as a kid. Basically no cats are like him. The ones we got now are like most cats. They demand food and water, they throw up a lot and you have to clean it up. They also never give any affection or love. They won’t even sit with you for god’s sake.
Wish i could do that, but my grandparents would never agree on having another pet, they are too old for that. I may move to my parents next year, maybe there i can get a cat
