Serious I nearly died when I was 14

I nearly drowned in the sea during a family vacation to the seaside. I had to be saved by a lifeguard, it was pretty embarrassing. I was thankful for being rescued at the time, but in hindsight, I should have been left to die. I think it's the Chinese who believe you shouldn't save a drowning victim because you'd be interfering with his fate.
