You boios ever played it ?

I did a campaign with the crumbling western Rome and it was fun and challenging to a certain point. On very hard though cause i was unfamiliar with the game so fu legendary mode, i would have lost :feelshehe:

playing that would be gut wrenching for me, either destroy rome or the hunnic empire, it's lose lose

One of my favorite games ever. I have not attempted rome yet. I prefer to play as the migrating germanic factions to learn.

You mean you love them both ? I'm polish and i used to get those feels but slaying a lot of pollacks with the teutonic order in other games desensitized me :lul: might as well call me the polish pollack slayer

Fucking based :feelsokman: i'm also tempted to play them. Vandals, or Alamans as non migrators. Trying to establish a new power base in germanic lands must be tough. I know for a fact that the huns do venture into the very heart of Germania cause they raized to the ground all germanic settlements before the Rhine river in my roman capaign.

yeah xD

i didn't know the crusaders fought against poles, i knew that they ravaged the balkans and constantinople though

Attila is the only modern Total War I actually liked. The best survival strategy as Western Rome is to abandon all weak, unprofitable regions and focus on your core provinces. Stretching your forces too thin often leads to collapse.

I've only played Medieval 2 total war and the crusades expansion

Yeah i've seen this technique being mentionned a lot. Might be effective but kinda beats the purpose of defending a crumbling empire imo. I played my campaign without this meta knowledge although i remember abandoning Tripolitana and the Balkans at some point, but i retook them later.

Was a very interesting campaign especially cause i kicked eastern rome's ass and reunified the empire before even wiping out the huns, it's probably kinda unusual.

Understandable cause lots of them are kinda meh. Idk why but Attila kinda feels like the pre-Empire games.

I have fun watching replays of battles and doing screenshots

Sick late game completely unpredicted military campaign in modern day Russia/Ukraine againt the... exiled western Rome :feelskek: when i wiped them out and took all of their cities a small army escaped and colonized a small coastal city north of the Black Sea. I brushed it off cause it seemed irrelevant and i was fighting the huns. Once the huns were taken care of i wanted finish them off but oh boy i was in for a big surprise, they had like 3 cities but produced endless full stacks of herculiani seniores (super heavy lance infantry) and the distance between their cities was a pain in the ass. I would have never thought that such a small and miserable escaping army was going to be the start of one of the fiercest military campaigns in the whole game. There was no way i could lose the game at this point but still, it required a lot of ressources and a meticulous approach to destroy them, had to use 5 legions in total.

To actually survive in any of the proper germanic territories requires a lot of skill. I have always ran away to iberia and taken advantage of the weakened western rome.
