Even discounting the millions of people with no way of making money due to corona, most young men are increasingly becoming angry or depressed over knowing they won't have a family, a girlfriend or anything close to a stable enjoyable life.

Rome didn't have the kind of copes we had. They didn't have a society of consumerism, nor did they have the technology and the logistics to deliver the amount of media and drugs that we can deliver on an industrial scale.
Not only that, but Rome's downfall had little to do with a lack of bread and circuses, and more to do with apathy, and allowing slaves and foreigners to fight and hold positions of power in Roman society, without any way of controlling them and their allegiances.
Almost every immigrant, no matter where they come from, when they come to America they are bombarded constantly with the consumerist lifestyle, and within one generation are basically fully assimilated. Rome could never accomplish such a thing when communication was only delivered by letters and by horse.
Trust me a country like Canada can maintain the welfare state and consumer debt for an incredibly long time.

Tbh anything could happen these days and it would not surprise me. I do think that young men especially are in a very strange spot now, obviously they have everything they need to live, food, water, medical care, housing, etc. But they are not happy. I know exactly why they are not happy because I know how things work. But if there is a leader who can capitalize on that feeling that young men have, he could make big changes. I think Trump being elected had something to do with that. No one else was really targeting that demographic. It does seem like these are ripe times for something crazy to happen but I just dont know if its possible.
I think if young men could have their copes removed it would help them realize how much they hate life and then they might do something about it. Unfortunately change never starts with your average guy because the average guy is not capable of much beyond working at mcdonalds and smoking weed. But if someone smart can do things just right he could get lots of men on his side and have big influence, especially because now it is easier to get power as an extreme political candidate.

Speakaing about Europe. More than ever the majority of people become obese due to confinement, that's the main problem in the last days. Street-criminality dropped drastically during the last 2 months, as well as road accidents, here; but internet scams and thieves 'home disinfectors' have increased.
Doesn't matter how much we shout and pout. We have copes, we have a place to vent. And access to copes is easier than ever. If you seriously want a revolt to happen, remove the copes.
