Male zebras rely on several cues to determine if a foal is theirs or not:

  1. Mating History: A stallion knows which mares in his herd he has mated with. If a foal is born shortly after a new male takes over the herd, he may assume it's not his.
  2. Behavioral Cues: Females with newborns conceived by other males might act more protectively, which could alert the stallion.
  3. Timeline Awareness: Stallions can use a rough awareness of gestation periods (about 12-13 months in zebras) to infer paternity based on when they mated with a mare.

That's interesting. They might share a diet but they're way more based than a vegan.

He should be killing the woman, not the kid.

I wonder if they kill the male foals at a higher rate and use some of the foid foals grow into JB breeding stock

Male zebras do not discriminate between male and female foals when committing infanticide. The act is primarily tied to reproductive strategy rather than the sex of the foal.

By removing foals that are not their own, the stallion prompts the mothers to become receptive for mating again, ensuring the survival of his genetic line.

also by the time the female foals are high enough to get fucked, the zebra male would be too old to compete for it.

I think lions do that too. If only humans were as aware as well.

human males do the same thing, children living in homes with unrelated males (usually the single mom's deadbeat boyfriend or fuckbuddy) are more likely to be killed or molested. human males not only fuck the single mom but fuck the kids too often. do zebras fuck the kids that aren't theirs?

The Cinderella effect is brutal.

Humans are nothing more than animals.
