Seriously I'm a pathological solo player, particularly in MMOs. I always worry that I'll fail, or let a group down in some way, so I don't even bother grouping at all. Mostly all I do at level cap is play casual PVP, and I haven't played rated in years since I refuse to play with people I don't know. It's not that I'm actually all that bad, I'm alright at the game as I've played for quite a long time(at least talking about WoW specifically), but my social anxiety keeps me from participating and playing the game like a normal person.

Speaking about games in general, I pretty much have to work myself up to play anything multiplayer, and even when I do I'm probably the most annoying type of player you could ever have the displeasure of being teamed with. I absolutely hate being like this, but it doesn't exactly feel like a choice.

Tfw you can't even pretend to be normal on the internet:feelsbadman:

I mostly play singleplayer games but the few times I talk everyone ignores me

This used to be me, and kinda still is me but by playing games which force me to use voice chat ( Squad ) I slowly became more comfortable.

I play all of my games single player. I even got invites to play Terraria a few times by other people, but rejected them due to my lonesome nature and fear of fucking up for other people or growing too attached to them only for them to start ghosting me. In any case playing solo is more fun for me since I don't have to worry about the needs of others, or potential get slown down by less skilled players or rushed by more skilled players, and I just play how I want and at my own pace.

I can never get ahead because of this, the fucking herds of normies man....

I'm the same way, the way I get around this is by becoming so good at a game I shit on normies blind folded. I remember all those games I lost in csgo do to teams and voice chat users, so I played the game nonstop for three months and got to lem/global solo, I was so good that I would carry all of my teams to the point of double digit kills in a single 7 round session. I quit because there's no point in playing when you're better than 99% of the player base, it was fun hearing the normies call me cheater and hacker. Was reported like fifty times. I hate social anxiety and how video games only cater to people with loads of friends.

No way i could ever play group games

yes i hate it. i hate having to use mic, thats why i stick to games like gta

I don't have any thumbs

I had the same problem until one guy at my high school played the same games at me.
We both invented strategies to get better (we play mostly fps).

i cant socialize anywhere

what mmos do you play?

I used to go on Omegle, and I found it easy to talk, socialise and even make people laugh, including girls. It just came naturally.

JFL. What a useless skillset to have, considering the opposite is true in the real world.

I've been playing WoW lately, but I've also played others in the past, stuff like ESO, SWTOR, and FFXIV. The context of the game doesn't matter tbh, I'm the same in all of them.

Well in that case go ER

That's the case for me aswell. Only games i can play online are 1 vs 1 fighting games, since i don't have to interact with my opponent.

Occasionally, I receive invitations in GTA Online to join ar organization/crew or whatever they are, but I don't even respond.
It would require too much commitment for me, plus I would be submitted to a hierarchy, which would be especially bad if I fucked up something (which I often do).
It's better to remain independent.

I obviously can relate, in fact another player simply messaging me in a game makes me nervous. While I really never want to respond, refraining from doing so makes me feel bad, so I really can't win no matter what I do.
