This guy is a fucking moron. The fact he says "Europe" had a large army is proof of this.
The reason big companies aren't present in Europe is because of a couple reasons:
1. Tech sector - started in the UK, America then capitalised on it before the UK did. The fact American manufacturing is alive and well, albeit dying, is a reason for this, as well as the fact post war the US took basically everything from the UK. However, what Europe lacks in actual manufacturing - the shit that makes money - it does make up for in RnD. A vast portion of the stuff America and China are making so much money selling comes from European universities.
2. This is measuring "economy", not quality of life or anything like that. People in Western Europe enjoy the highest quality of life in the world. There is little push within Europe to begin extending their reach overseas. The problems have been loss of manufacturing capability, push for high quality of life, and what I call "useless industries', including low skill immigration and landlord.
Immigrants and their need to rent houses has driven house prices up to insane level above a mortgage, so half the population are now landlords which sit on their fat arses doing nothing generating nothing for the economy.
Then there's manufacturing - you can't compete with China in manufacturing. The US is discovering this. You have to divert to higher skill manufacturing like pharmaceuticals and complex electronic parts - the latter of which has received zero worthwhile government investing.
Finally - useless industries. Ask any young person what their job is, it will be "lead of creativity at a digital marketing firm". How does a digital marketing firm create value? It doesn't. European investors invest in a shitty tech company doomed to fail, the digital marketing company digitally markets the shitty tech company, and all this cycle is is investment being squandered on bullshit. This is starting in America as well.
What they need:
Incentive for STEM jobs
Bring back manufacturing in country
Stop immigration, and massively restrict landlords so a person cannot live off the money they make renting. Landlords are useless eaters, in my opinion they all should be shot.
Government funding for viable in country technology industries. The infrastructure for this is far better developed in the USA - this will be slow
Lower business taxes, increase taxes on high earners.
Raise minimum wage and force companies to innovate. Most companies now sit on their arses because the CEO can afford to live in luxury. Make him unable to afford this luxury, and he will run the company better.
Incentives for companies to operate here
Stop supporting failing oil and gas industries.
Bring back nationalism, high skill individuals are traitors to their country and Empire if they leave for the USA, catch them at the border and PUT THEM TO WORK BUILDING A GREATER REI...
Bring back gunboat colonialism. Take back Hong Kong. China is resting on the pretence its military is even vaguely competent. It isn't. Hong Kong should be garrisoned and protected. Boom. An extra 1-2 TRILLION for the UK economy.
Take back Suez Canal of the filthy Egyptian government.
Sell that fucking diamond India wants so much, take the money, and then destroy the diamond, turning it into carbon, then rearrange the molecules through brilliant anglo Saxon chemistry to turn it into literal faeces, the go to India have a large presentation where they return the diamond, throw shit in the PMs face, laugh, then detonate a nuclear bomb hidden on the transport aircraft turning India into dust making it fit for resettlement.
