Seems like I've lost the ability to have rapport with people my own age ever since I finished HS.
After HS, I went to community college for 2 years. So I missed out on the dorm experience, a major building block in becoming a normal functioning adult. In community college, My classmates ranged from 25 to 30, 40, 50+. As an 18 year old, it was difficult to relate with even the 25 y/os
After community college, I transferred to a state school. Since I missed those first 2 years, I had a difficult time making friends while in class. I eventually got a job on campus at the library, but most of my co-workers were grad school students. It was a little easier to relate at this point. But its only work, not true social events.
After graduating, I then went to work at a state agency. I am the youngest person in my department at 23, while the next youngest in 29, and she is married to a 40 y/o man, with 2 kids.
Oh and I also attend a church that has NO KIDS MY AGE.
Oh and my grandma has been developing dementia, so I spend a lot of my time, when not wagecucking, helping her out.
What are the chances of being isolated at every faucet of life from your own peers. CRAZY.
