I trust nobody anymore and have good reason.

My own brother tried to extort me and then sue me when I refused to give him money that wasn't his. And separately someone who I thought was a friend was doing a long con artist scheme and just trying to get me to do work for him for free (build his business), he got pissed when he realised I wasn't going to work for him for free. Neither of them will talk to me anymore cause I guess if I don't do things for them then I am no use to them anymore.

So in my experience it's true, basically all people, even your own family members, can't be trusted, and are probably just trying to use you for their own gain. If you stop helping them they will mysteriously disappear from your life cause they turn their focus on exploiting somebody else.
