theres some truth to that, but I wonder are we that different or is it just our brain programmed to nitpick and differenciate human faces?
isn't it funny how we never forget a face? I can always tell right away if I know someone, even at some distance without glasses. I wonder if we could make a computer map these wolves faces' and see their difference, I'm sure they are because they somehow can tell eachother apart (although they rely also on smell which we don't, as we're visual creatures as primates, although we can't really tell chimps and gorillas apart somehow)
Yeah agreed with all the other posters. Our brains are have just honed in on analysing micro differences between humans for genetic information. It served no function to do this for animals. Aliens would prob see us as all the same. Also the fact that there is billions of humans naturally is going to mean a lot more mutation and variation than a smaller population on the extreme ends (chads and incels). Also races = sub species, we just don't say that cus politics.
that's a good comment. I personally like to imagine aliens would prolly see us the same way we see rabbits
there's a few combinations and different patterns but the overall "design" is the same. Also isn't it interesting how animals who were domesticated by humans show a similar diversity of patterns?
Also, still on phenos, people don't pay much attention but there's a lot of overlapping in phenos, and if you're like me and autistically like to see patterns in people's appearances you'll see that even though we have such pheno diversity, there's still a lot of shared phenos.
I see these patterns of pheno traits, like eyebrow shape and density, lips, body/facial hair distribution... I see some of these in most human populations. People who are into genetics know that humans are not genetically very diverse as other animals, even though we seem to share a bigger variation of phenotypes given our migratory nature (and genetic drift phenomena)
race is a real concept, but it's definitely not how people view it, in the common sense view of it really doesn't exist.
