For me I stopped a few addictions when someone explained to me it's not there because we're so libertarian and we love freedom but it's actively used as a weapon against you. Like weed isn't there because it's so fun and relaxing, no it's there to keep you docile and weak. Porn is there to keep people from making children. What also helps if someone you respect makes fun of you for it.
