It seems like now everyone is posting selfies and trying to look as good as possible, but was it always this extreme? Before smart phones and social media it didn't seem society cared as much about what you look like. Maybe I'm just looking back with rose colored glasses.

Until about 50 years ago survival was not some given and people had to make practical choices based on merit.

Now everything is so fucking easy in the west people are just obsessed with aesthetics. Normies, cucks and foids look down disparagingly at anyone who does actual work for a living nowadays (unless they are a high tier Chad, in which case its acceptable). Personally I love watching desperate normies buy BMW's and designers clothes on a $60k / year salary just so they can prove to some bored out foid that they are worthy of betabuxxing her and five of Tyrone's halflings.

No, discrimination on looks always existed, colonization and the world wars speak volumes. Its just that advanced tools are used for discrimination today.

average narcissism is substantially higher now. foids also have their pick of chads at the tip of their fingers, so that leads to men peacocking themselves like metrosexuals.

it wasn’t nearly this bad back in the day

Now male normans likes to mock uglier people for their flaws. This is their cope for not being a chad. They can't accept the truth.
Better incel than norman
