We've all read the articles about how chronic isolation and loneliness are strongly linked to depression and suicide. It's not surprising that many of us, already on the edge, would give up many years of more of the same for even just a single year of being treated well and virtually unlimited access to companionship. I don't even think this is really about sex. I think it's about the implicit promise of being treated like a human being versus the reality of the hellish dismissal in, "You're not entitled to" compassion/kindness/human-company.

I’ve tried explaining my pain to family, but they completely dismiss it. Always blue pill responses. This is EXACTLY why the suicide rates in the West keep RISING despite all the mental health interventions, including websites censoring people from talking about their own lives and suicidal ideation. 1 year, 10 years, it doesn't make a difference. I value it insofar as I'd rather get through it as comfortably and smoothly as possible, but if I died peacefully in my sleep, I'd be fine with that too.
