The problem I was directly confronted with that I'm assuming every ugly man is confronted with is that modern male friendships like these become increasingly driven by your ability to attract women. Guys want you as a friend to provide them additional opportunities through both your connections to women and for your ability to wingman and hookup with the friends of the girls they're pursuing. Some of my most painful social experiences would be becoming good friends with a guy only to feel like I was bringing him down by being rejected by the friends of the girl he was hooking up with.
