I still make the case that Dominicans could be our own ethnic group given that we're mostly just mulattoes that got mixed 400+ years ago and being on an island of from mainland Latin America there's less intermixing with Lations of other countries. You will never see a Mexican or an Argentine in the DR for example, we only interact as immigrants in the U.S. You will find Venezuelan migrants in the DR because their country is that much of a shithole (I do kinda feel bad for them, but at the same time they're bunch of subhumans that like to kill people just like in those gore videos) and maybe Colombians there. I will also make the case that Dominicans are different from Puerto Ricans, despite having a very similar culture and racial makeup. Latin America on the otherhand, while largely mestizo still have small pockets of Amerindian ethnicities who have their own identities and languages.
What you're suggesting is something à la British Commonwealth, but with Spain and its former colonies (maybe also including the Philippines and Equatorial Guinea). There's already the Latin Union and the OEI, which I think it's alright. I do believe that Latin American countries should stop their dependence on the U.S. and instead forming allegiance to a regional superpower within Latin America, maybe with Mexico or Brazil.
Spain is part of the EU and it isn't doing so well, and considering all the separatists movements that want to break away I would say it's a pretty fragile state how it is now. But of course Spanish nationalists want to cope like wanting to make it like how it was in Hapsburg days or when Francisco Franco was in charge. But yeah, I don't think we should be kissing the Spaniards' or the gringos' asses.
