Hdd rarely just die unless they sustain physical damage like a fall or something, bad luck in production, or very old age.

After 5 years, you're rolling dice on when it will fail. Don't save any sensitive data on that thing.

Hdd are dirt cheap atm, idk why you don't just get another

If it’s not making any weird noises or having corrupted files, it’s should be good for years. Just keep your pc cool. It might be a good idea to get another hard drive and back up your files

I'm living in a country that average salary is around 250$

Hard to tell, it probably depends how extensively you use it. I used to have hdd drive that died just after a month, but my current one has about 5 rn.

09 and it still works? that's crazy old

I do have a WD green that has run 24/7 since aug 2012 and is still going somehow

get an ssd wtf are you doing. Also you can use a free program like veeam agent to back that shit up to something else before it craps out on you

tbh hdd's are not reliable from experience. I lost all my data multiple times from hdd's

My OG PS3 has been using it's original 60GB hard drive since launch in 2006 and still running to this day, hasn't failed on me yet but I do hear rattling occasionally. If you hear clicking sounds every now and then, replace it ASAP

That's an old hard drive

my first ssd didn't last even half as long

died suddenly ~7 months after installation

or at least I think it did

from what I remember computer stopped working/when I logged in the wallpaper was blank and i could not do anything at all really
tried to fix it by reinstalling windows/using hirens boot disk from a flash drive (posted on plebbit for tech support). neither worked

some guy said it was probably drive failure

think at that point I looked into it a little more and agreed

wanted to buy a new one to replace

mother said to take it to pc repair place to make sure

it was the ssd that had failed

expensive repair :(

pretty rare though

check MTBF for general guideline
