Granted I'm not friends with those people, but acquaintances like colleagues.

Every place I remember where I had colleagues or such, no matter how I presented myself somehow they'd always be somewhat condescending/mocking.

Like I'm some buffoon or idiot. Even though I have/had good grades.

It's weird, they treat each other well, and on the outside I am decently polite and nice, and yet if I say something or ask a question or something it's like I said the most retarded and annoying thing. Maybe it's cause I'm always quiet and I shouldn't have dared to say anything?

Defense mechanism. I do that to people in general too. It's a defense mechanism. Whether it's someone you know or a chad, they're on the defensive either emotionally or physically.

Emotionally if they think you can harm them mentally, and seeing how many of us aren't that decent to look at, people tend to consider ugly as someone or something that can physically harm them just because of how they look. It's a defense mechanism.
