Unless it's related to money and financial success, we live in a society where human achievement means literally nothing.

Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most famous painters in all of history. Post-humuously he was recognized as a genius.
Yet he was a fucking loser who was a commercial and financial failure, what, he painted paintings? Are you fucking kidding me? He ended his pathetic life cutting off his ear and then killing himself.

Karl Marx is one of the most famous political and economic theorists in all of history. Yet he was a financially poor loser, no chick wants to stroke that beard - who never held a real job in his entire life.

Friedrich Nietzsche revolutionized philosophy not only by making nihilism mainstream, but systematically explaining what is problematic with Christianity on purely moral grounds. He was a loser who went to the brothels, got syphilis, and literally went insane where he died.

Saint Paul the Apostle travelled the entire continent of Europe and spread an insanely creative religious cult that became the foundation block of Western civilization for centuries to come, creating a philosophy of life that became the subject of so much artistic, literary, and philosophical development. Yet he was a homeless crackpot that died executed by the state.

Emily Dickinson was a poet whose literary works were revolutionary and recognized as genius. Yet she lived in her house all day and her works were published post-humously.

Clarence Darrow was one of the most famous lawyers in American history. He was so popular and famously litigated the Scopes monkey trial, seeking to prevent creationism from being taught in schools. Yet he was a solo-practitioner, akin to a Saul Goodman, in Ohio.

We live in a world where, unless you are financially successful, achievements literally mean nothing. There are no more Saint Pauls, Nietzsches, Van Goughs, etc. And there never will be.

Why even contribute to a society that doesn't value anything in of itself?
