He didn't have a way of seeing clear evidence that a male's looks matter with things like tinder, online dating and IRL footage of an ugly male vs. a good looking male interacting with a female so it wouldn't be as easy to come to that conclusion as today. He was working with a more limited set of examples and the theories about SMV and how men can truly be more attractive to women were still comparatively surface level.

This passage from him is more like an 1800s redpill description of how men with darktriad characteristics were successful with women more than men that were less low inhib and more reserved.
